Founded in 1954 as a collective company by İshak Alaton and Dr Üzeyir Garih, ALARKO undertook its first industrial contracting works in 1956.

In 1959, ALARKO constructed complex air-conditioning facilities such as the Central Bank Bank Banknote Printing House and Sümerbank Malatya Additional Weaving Complex.

In 1967, ALARKO, with a staff of more than 150 engineers, more than 400 technicians and labourers and with local facilities, started to undertake Complete Industrial Plant Contracting.

In 1973, ALARKO became a holding company and gathered all contracting services under ALARKO CONTRACTING GROUP, which was established in the same year.

In 1990, ALARKO CONTRACTING GROUP started its first overseas activities in Russia and CIS countries. It has realised many important, infrastructure, construction and industrial facility works in Russia, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan. Afterwards, it has carried out works in many different countries in 3 continents.

ALARKO CONTRACTING GROUP has become one of the most reliable and reputable companies of the sector in Turkey and abroad with more than 300 projects carried out in 7 fields of activity in 3 continents.

ALARKO CONTRACTING GROUP, which has received many important awards and certificates of appreciation both in Turkey and abroad, has been among the largest companies in the ‘World's 250 Largest International Contractors’ list prepared by ENR (Engineering News Record), the most prestigious magazine of the international construction sector, which has been published since 1918, based on the revenues of contracting companies outside the countries where their headquarters are located.
